Pick your passion. Let us know if any of these opportunities to serve stands out to you!

Thank you so very much for your interest in becoming a volunteer for our organization. We’d like to take a second to let you know what we are looking for in a volunteer. It starts with your passion. What do you do in your free time that others would consider work, but you'd do it all day, everyday if you could?

Maybe it's photography, marketing, videography, accounting, financing, organizing or anything else. Maybe you'd like to be involved with logistics, planning hikes, or maintaining equipment. Would you like to help drive, share your property near the mountains or introduce Veterans to our program? Let's talk! Maybe you'd like to help us get into publications, on the news, or help us grow our social media, then please let us know. Are you gifted and experienced with fundraising? We have a committee that focuses solely on that. We'd love to have you on board.

Please take a moment and imagine yourself on the ODO team using your gifts to change the lives of those we serve. Exciting isn't it? Let us know what your passions are and we will talk more about how they may help our mission. We look forward to hearing from you!

Our Volunteer Committees

  • The Event Management Committee is responsible for planning and coordinating all ODO events, activities, and other events as needed. They will coordinate with other ODO committees as needed to obtain marketing/PR, logistical, and operational support.

  • The Marketing/Public Relations committee is responsible for promoting and communicating ODO’s mission, vision, and values to the public, and our volunteers. Using the latest technology and appropriate media channels to create sustained interest, attract new users and volunteers, and increase public awareness of ODO.

  • The Fundraising Committee is responsible for overseeing the organization's overall fundraising by working closely with the other ODO committees to support special events, appropriate marketing campaigns, product sales, and other special activities. They also monitor fundraising efforts to be sure that ethical practices are in place, that donors are acknowledged appropriately, and that fundraising efforts are cost-effective.

  • The Operations Committee is responsible for maintaining the physical and technologic assets used in the delivery and support of ODO’s mission and purpose. To oversee and regularly review the current condition, use, and repair of vehicles, watercraft, hiking gear, equipment, and other supplies to ensure their adequacy to support the mission and priorities of ODO. The technology assets include the website, social media platforms, photography and video recording equipment, and others as needed.

  • If you’re looking to volunteer for hikes and are a Veteran, please fill out the hike participation form, and plan on hiking with us at least four times. After that, we’ll present you to the Board of Directors as a potential candidate for leading hikes. If approved we’ll help you get your Wilderness First Aid (WFA) Certification and then get you in the rotation of hikes. A Veteran hike leader is optimal for our organization.
